Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Personal Chef and a Private Chef?

A Personal Chef normally has several different clients and provides services for many events. A Private Chef on the other hand, is typically exclusively employed by an individual or family full-time.

How do I select a menu for my event?

No two menus are the same! All menus are created based on your likes and budget. Take a few minutes to scroll through Chef Jaycee’s social media accounts to get an idea of plates you and your guests would enjoy. Chef Jaycee offers brunch buffets, however all dinners under 25 guests are plated. During the initial consultation, Chef Jaycee will talk through menu options for each course to build a complete menu. Chef Jaycee can accommodate any of your guests’ dietary restrictions.

Do you cook in my kitchen?

Yes, Chef Jaycee does his prep work beforehand, but all of the food is made in your kitchen to ensure everything arrives to the table fresh and hot. Chef Jaycee will arrive to the event location about two hours before the planned dinner start time to begin cooking.

How much will it cost to hire Chef Jaycee?

Plate costs wholly depend on the menu chosen. The more expensive the ingredients are, the more pricey the per person plate cost will be. Depending on the distance from Chef Jaycee’s home base in Centreville, VA, there will also be a travel fee. The travel fee in the DMV area ranges from to $25 to $100. Do you provide dishware and silverware?

Normally clients prefer to provide their own dishware that matches their table set up; however, Chef Jaycee does have glass dinner and dessert plates, silverware, and black cloth napkins that can be provided at an extra cost. Drinkware and any other table decor will need to be provided by the client. Elegant platters and dishes for appetizers, buffets, and family style meals are provided without any additional costs.
